The U.S. Department of Education endorses a nationwide push to increase
the readiness of future teachers in their instruction and representation
of effective technology use in 21st century classrooms. This
support comes in three types of grants, each one equitable to the
preparedness of a consortium to engage the challenge of preparing
technologically proficient teachers.
PT3 grants come in the following 3 categories:

Capacity
building
This grant is for the
early stages of implementing a formative technology accommodating commitment.
The consortium must state concise objectives for the first year in collaboration with an
evaluation of that plan.

Implementation
The Implementation
grant supports stable consortia in better preparing future teachers by founding further
development on previous phases of the project (i.e. evaluations, lessons learned,
partnerships). This stage is identifiable by technology installation across the board.

Catalyst
This grant is reserved
for established comprehensive projects that are well-versed in the principles of proficient
technology training for pre-service teachers.
