
Mentor Teacher Responsibilities
A mentor teacher's responsibilities include:
meeting regularly with the student teacher, both formally and informally. | |
guiding the student teacher through the daily operation of the school. | |
arranging for the student teacher to visit different teacher's classes. | |
demonstrating lessons for the student teacher. | |
observing the student teacher's teaching and providing feedback, nonjudgementally. | |
being a role model in all aspects of professionalism. | |
developing both mentoring and teaching skills. | |
supporting and counseling the student teacher, providing perspective when needed. |
Overextending | |
Lacking clarification of the mentor's role from all concerned | |
Assuming excessive responsibility for the student teacher | |
Improving as a mentor, but not as a teacher |
