College of Natural and Applied Sciences
You will be able to register online beginning September 15, 2008. Students, parents and teachers all must register. Every individual attending needs to register and pay the registration fee.
The deadline is October 13, 2008
The cost per participant is $15. This includes adults attending the conference.
Have each student sign up with you and give you a check for $15. The check needs to be payable to "Women in Science."
When you have the students' names and checks, you (and you alone) can go to the website and register each student.
Do not have the students register individually on the website. At this point, you will have to register the students one at a time
(i.e. register one student completely, then go back to the starting point and register another, etc.). As you register each student,
be sure to print out the release form for each. Have the student/parents fill out the release form and return it to you. You can
then send in the group forms/checks all together.
After your registration is processed, you will be sent an e-mailed. A map will also be included. Click here for directions to campus.
Young women, grades 6-8. Each young participant may have one responsible adult attending with her.
No. There needs to be an accompanying adult for every five girls. On the registration form, the individual must provide the name of the adult planning to accompany her. This is important as we provide for a leader for each group of girls to lead them from session to session but we must have a responsible adult present in the building at all times in case of emergencies.
The conference begins with an opening welcome. There will be workshops for both the students and adults. All workshops will expose the students and adults to the Sciences and Math, either by hands-on activities or discussing career opportunities with women in the various science fields. Lunch will be provided.
No. There are sessions for parents/teachers that are separate from your daughters/students. The parent/teacher sessions are geared to help you learn more about how to help with science projects at home or at school. You will be together at the opening session, during the featured scientist session and probably during the mentor session. Enjoy your day and you can talk about the various sessions that you attended on the ride home.
There is no limit. The only limitation is that the entire program is limited to 200 girls so only the first 200 girls to register are accepted.

You should plan to arrive with your group between 8:00 - 8:20 AM for registration. There will be coffee and orange juice served at this time. The program starts immediately following registration. The program will conclude at 3:15 PM. The conference will last the entire day. It is not like an "open house" where you may come and go during the day.
Parking is available in lot 4 (corner of
Everyone must be checked in at the registration table before attending any activities. Tables will be set up in the lower lobby area of Temple Hall. You should enter Temple Hall through the south doors. Registration lists will be organized by school. Hopefully, the registration process will proceed as smoothly as it did last year and everyone will be ready to get started at 8:45.
You will receive an email confirming your registration. If you have additional questions or concerns, please call Dr. Diann Thomas, Chemistry Department, 417-836-4166.
