The Missouri University of Science and Technology and Missouri State University cooperative program is designed to allow students to complete a Missouri S&T bachelor’s degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering without leaving the greater Springfield area.

How do I apply?
Answer: Students must first satisfy the admissions requirements at Missouri State University to begin the pre-engineering curriculum.

What degree will I earn?
Answer: BS in Civil Engineering or BS in Electrical Engineering
What about scholarships and financial aid?
Answer: For purposes of financial aid and scholarships, the student’s “home institution” throughout the program will remain at MSU. Participating students must meet and maintain the MSU scholarship renewal criteria based on credit hours and grade point average.
What if I want to transfer full-time to the Missouri S&T Campus?
Answer: Students should contact the Missouri S&T transfer office for information on admission and scholarship processing. Transfer student scholarships at Missouri S&T will only apply if the student leaves the Missouri S&T/MSU cooperative program and becomes a new, full-time transfer student at Missouri S&T.
Which school calendar should I follow?
Answer: Classes taught on the MSU campus by Missouri S&T will follow the MSU calendar when possible. (MSU classes begin one week later than Missouri S&T in the Spring Semester.)
How do I register for classes?
Answer: After students are admitted to either Missouri S&T or MSU, they will be eligible to register for the prescribed courses in the program. Registration information will be provided to the student from the campus teaching the courses for which the student needs to register. The student will proceed through the registration process on each campus when selecting those courses.
How do I get my books?
Answer: When taking Missouri S&T classes, it is recommended that students complete an online book request with the Missouri S&T bookstore. The Missouri S&T bookstore will ship the requested textbooks to the student's home address.
Do my instructors use the Missouri S&T or the MSU grading policy?
Answer: Students will follow the grading policies of the campus offering the course (i.e., if the course is designated and transcripted by MSU, the MSU grading policies will apply).
How do I get an official copy of my transcript?
Answer: Students should visit the Registrar’s Office website of each institution to find instructions for ordering official transcripts. Courses will be transcripted by the institution that is offering the course. Each institution will provide the other with an official transcript. Such transcripts will be used to evaluate transfer credit, update the student’s degree audit, and determine compliance with MSU satisfactory academic progress regulations for students receiving financial aid.
Who will send me a bill and at what rate will I pay?
Answer: MSU will send out all bills to the students. The charges will be at MSU rates for MSU courses and Missouri S&T rates for Missouri S&T courses. Missouri S&T and MSU will charge student services fees for resident students. Missouri S&T academic fees will be determined by the student’s state residency: in-state, out-of-state, or Midwest Student Exchange.
If I drop a class, will I get a refund?
Answer: The MSU refund schedule will be followed.
As an international student, who will issue my I-20?
Answer: International students will follow SEVIS rules at MSU. MSU will issue the I-20, and the student will remain with MSU for SEVIS reporting purposes.
What will print on my transcript and diploma?
Answer: MSU and Missouri S&T will both post the Missouri S&T/MSU cooperative degree on their transcript. The Missouri S&T diploma will read “in cooperation with Missouri State University”.
Which commencement ceremony do I attend?
Answer: It will be the student’s option to participate in either the Missouri S&T or the MSU commencement ceremony. The student should make the appropriate arrangements with the respective Bookstore/Registrar’s Office.
I'm in high school and I am interested in starting the new engineering program at Missouri State. Now what?
Answer: Apply to Missouri State University. There is an online application or you may request a paper application.
When do I apply to Missouri University of Science & Technology?
Answer: Most students would apply to Missouri University of S & T after their second semester on the Missouri State campus. Students must complete 24 credits with a 2.5 GPA before applying for admission to Missouri S&T.
Who will be my advisor?
Answer: Your advisor will be one of the engineering faculty at Missouri State University.
What courses do I take my first semester?
Answer: It depends on your math placement and the credits you have earned in high school. You will need to see an advisor in the engineering program. Please contact us at 417-836-6208!
